Mont Tremblant Ski Village

Candy Valley

On my trip to Mont Tremblant, I climbed the mountain very early in the morning to catch the sunrise. Unfortunately, the sky was a bit cloudy so I didn't get any pictures.

I was walking along one of these hiking trails, called the 360 degree, which takes you in a circle round the top of the mountain, when I saw this great picture. The village below is the Mont Tremblant ski village and in my postcard, it looks like it's made of icing sugar, or that it came straight out of Smurf's. However, when I scanned in the picture, it didn't quite turn out the way I wanted, but here it is. But it's a nice picture because of the fall colours in the trees further down the mountain (the trees higher up have already lost their leaves). And if you look higher up the mountain, along the slope, the white patches you see here is what's left behind from a light snowfall I got caught in as I was climbing to the top. Talk about cold weather--caught me by surprise because I didn't expect to see snow in early October.

Here is a closer look at the Mont Tremblant Ski Village. I kind of like this photo because of the way the autumn colours contrast against the buildings.

No, I didn't take a panoramic shot of the village. Not all of the photo was nice, so what I did was to scan in only the section of the photo that I wanted. Only slight problem was that most of the lake is no longer in the picture.

On the way down the mountain, I took this trail called Le Grand Brûlé. It was quite a scenic trail, but it was quite long--it took me one hour to climb up the mountain via the ski slope, but two hours to go down using the hiking trail. At the top of the mountain, where it was colder, a lot of trees had already lost their leaves. But further down, the leaves were a brilliant red and it made a good photo against the morning sky.
