Gite Au Parc Fontaine

Gîte Au Parc Fontaine

The house that you see on the extreme right is the first place where we stayed after our long thirty-five hour journey from Singapore to Montreal. It was $55 per room, inclusive of breakfast and it was a much better place than the next place we were to stay in. My only complaint about this place was that during breakfast, there were bees that would crawl into the jam bottles--yuck! About one month plus after our first day in Montréal, I went back to take a photo of this place. Unfortunately, it was raining, so I went to the library nearby for a while. When I came out, it was all sunny, except for the receding storm clouds. I seized this opportunity to take this good photo. On the way back, the sky clouded over again and there was a slight drizzle.

Auberge Chez Jean

Here is the five of us on the steps of the second place we went to in Montréal. We had only booked the first place for two nights, so we had to find some other place to stay. Well, we got really cheap accomodation, $15 per night, breakfast included, and the guy offered to pick us up in his van so that settled our luggage problem. Unfortunately, the place was a dump and I have some pictures to prove it, but I shan't post them up on the web. The guy had people sleeping out in the yard behind as well as in the corridors and living room. There were also quite a few mattresses stuffed up in the attic. However, the people there were very friendly and easy to talk to, and we had quite a memorable time at this place.

Jetty at the St. Lawrence River at South Lancaster

On my second Sunday in Montréal, I met a couple at People's Church and they invited me to have lunch with them. I thought they couldn't live that far away, but it turned out they lived about an hour and a quarter's drive away, in South Lancaster, Ontario. Well their house was about one street away from the banks of the St. Lawrence River and I got a photo of myself on the jetty, with the houses in the background.

Squirrel at Parc Mont Royal, Montréal

Squirrel at Parc Mont Royal, Montréal

On one of our Saturday afternoons, we went for a picnic at Parc Mont Royal. There were quite a few squirrels running around the place and climbing up trees to look for berries. The sky had a really nice colour so I waited about an hour for a squirrel to climb up the tree I was under. So when it did, I got out my camera, and since the squirrel would be a bit small in the photo, I zoomed the camera to the maximum and got this close-up.
